Barbershop Singering

Sometimes I wake up to find notes on my door. Sometimes they go like this: (the lines are true to the actual note)

I have sung almost 35 years. 30 years in the church. __________________________________

I would like to get back into singing but not church.

I like Barbershop singering. I've been told, by several music teachers & choir directors that I do have a perfect voice. I'm normally a barry and with a little voice training a second tenor. I'm trying to get involved with the SPBS (Society for the preservation of Barbershop Singering).

After my operation my nervous system will be totally 100%. Well this is speculation uncertain speculation.

I'll wait here.

THE END

I'm not sure if it was the author or the letter but something made me think of this.

Late Starter

For years now I've checked my friends blogs to see what they were up to. I watched as more and more of my friends joined the blog world, and thought to myself "I will never have a blog". Look at me now, writing my first entry, eating my words, knowing that eventually I'll have to confess what I've done.

In Portland we have an iconic statue looming over our city, her name is Portlandia.

One day my friend Alie (here she is with an awesome hat on)
started calling me Caitlandia which was quickly shortened to Landy. Then I decided I needed a b-girl name because I was sure that I was meant to be a break dancer. I held a contest to determine what my new b-girl name should be. **This contest has ended, please do not make new submissions**

Rules of the Contest:
You must submit an entry to me within the next two weeks. I will accept entries in person, over the phone or through email.

The winner recieves:
*bragging rights
*gets to be the first person to see some of my moves

I received some great entries. One of my favorites was Landy Cane which was submitted by my friend Ryan.

He was going to be the winner until at the last minute I got shy and decided I couldn't show him my break dancing moves. I didn't know what to do because the contest was clearly in place and there was no shutting it down. I had a moment of brilliance and decided I could also put in an entry so I submitted the name Landylicious. Of course Landylicious won, really how could it not. ( After showing myself some of my moves I was grateful I had made a last minute submission).

My nickname has evolved to include any name that rhymes with or sounds remotely close to landycane or landylicious. So now I respond to such names as novacaine, cocaine and landyvicous. And sometimes some sweeter names too like candy cane and landylou.

I like my name. I like my friends. I like my life....
